WhatsApp broadcasts let you send template messages to multiple contacts at once. Unlike regular messages, broadcasts require approved message templates and work with both marketing and utility message types.
Understanding the Broadcast Dashboard
The broadcast dashboard shows all your key metrics at a glance:
1. Total Broadcasts (378 in the screenshot for example) - Shows how many broadcast campaigns you've created across all time
2. Orders Generated (17 in the screenshot for example) - Direct orders attributed to broadcast campaigns
3. Revenue Generated across all broadcasts till date.
4. Search Functionality - Find specific broadcasts by name
5. New Broadcast Button - Create new broadcast campaigns
6. Export Report - Export broadcast performance data for analysis (It will be sent to your email once ready)
7. Broadcast Name - Whatever you named the broadcast, it will be shown here
8. Status Column - Shows if broadcasts are Draft, Scheduled, or Finished
9. Stats Overview - Engagement metrics like how many templates were sent, and how many orders were gotten through that specific broadcast
10. Revenue Tracking - See exactly how much revenue each broadcast generated, ROI, and when these stats were updated
10. ROI Calculation - Understand return on investment for each campaign
11. Actions: Delete or Retry broadcasts
Creating Your First Broadcast
Step 1: Name Your Broadcast
[Image 1: Screenshot showing broadcast name input field]
Give your broadcast a descriptive name like "New Year Promo Blast" or "Weekly Newsletter - Jan 2025". This helps you organize and find campaigns later.
Step 2: Select WhatsApp Channel
Choose which WhatsApp number to send from if you have multiple numbers connected to Spur.
Step 3: Choose Your Template
Select an approved message template. Templates must be pre-approved by Meta before you can use them in broadcasts. If you don't have suitable templates, you'll need to create and get them approved first.
If you don't know how to do that, read this.
Once you've completed these steps, the broadcast creation window opens with two main tabs:
Template Configuration
1. Rename Template - Name it something else if you'd like to
2. Media Upload - Add header images or videos by clicking "Choose JPG or PNG" (Has to be under 5 MB of size, Meta's servers will only accept that)
3 and 4. Buttons (CTA buttons in example screenshot) - You can add a link here where you want people to be sent to once they click on the CTA button.
The right side shows a real-time preview of how your message will appear to recipients.
Settings & Audience Targeting
1. Send To Segment - Select which contacts receive your broadcast
2. Don't Send To (Optional) - Exclude specific segments from receiving this broadcast
3. Enable Delivery Boost - Automatically retry failed messages for up to 24 hours to maximize delivery
4. Limit Audience Size - Set maximum number of recipients to prevent your number from being flagged
5. Start Sending Now - Send immediately after saving
6. Schedule for Later - Set specific date and time for broadcast delivery
7. Create New Segment - Build new audience groups if existing segments don't match your needs
8. Save Broadcast - Save as draft or proceed with sending
Advanced Settings Explained
Delivery Boost: This feature continues trying to deliver your message for up to 72 hours, working around WhatsApp's per-user marketing limits. It significantly improves delivery rates but may spread your broadcast across multiple hours.
Audience Size Limiting: Sending to very large audiences at once can trigger quality rating issues. Limiting audience size helps maintain account health while ensuring reliable delivery.
