Tags are quick labels you slap on contacts. Unlike custom fields, they're just simple markers - a contact either has a tag or doesn't.
1. Tag Name Column Shows all your tags. Some common ones you'll see:
Source tags ("Imported on 30 Jul 2025, 5:12:20 pm IST")
Campaign tags ("Nikunj's Lead")
Status tags ("Live Chat Lead", "service done")
Random ones ("imp", "Test", "railway", "C1", "tag121")
Import tags get auto-created when you upload contacts. The rest you create manually.
2. Contacts with Tag How many contacts have this tag:
58 contacts tagged "Nikunj's Lead"
1 lonely contact with "service done"
0 means dead tag, probably safe to delete
This count helps you gauge tag importance. High numbers = widely used. Zero = cleanup candidate.
3. View Contacts Action Click to see everyone with this tag. Opens a filtered contact list showing only tagged contacts. From there you can message them individually too. If you want to target them all, you can do so by creating a segment with that tag and then broadcasting to that segment.
4. Create Tag Button Top right. Makes new tags. Just type a name and hit enter. That's it. No configuration needed.
5. Search Tags Find tags fast when you've got dozens. Searches by tag name, not the contacts inside.
Quick Tags Tips
Tags vs Custom Fields:
Tags = Simple yes/no labels (VIP customer? Tagged or not)
Custom Fields = Store actual data (Customer since: "Jan 2024")
Common Tag Uses:
Mark lead sources (FB_Ad, Google, Walk-in)
Track customer status (VIP, Problem, Wholesale)
Campaign tracking (Diwali_2024, Summer_Sale)
Internal notes (Follow_up, Check_order)
Auto-Generated Import Tags: Every import creates a timestamp tag. These are useful for:
Tracking which batch of imports the contacts came from
Following up on specific import groups
Cleaning old imports if needed
Keep It Organized: Tags get messy fast. Use consistent naming:
Bad: "imp", "lead", ''customer''
Good: "VIP", "Lead_Source_FB", "Campaign_Diwali_2024"
