Steps to apply for WhatsApp Blue Tick (Formerly Green Tick)

The WhatsApp blue tick verification is a badge that is awarded to businesses that have been verified by WhatsApp.

By default, when your setup your WhatsApp API & Display Name is approved, you will not have a Blue Tick. There's a process to apply for the WhatsApp blue tick badge on WhatsApp, read on to understand how.

Before you apply for WhatsApp green tick verification, your business MUST MEET the following requirements:

  1. Be a business (individuals are not eligible for WhatsApp green tick verification).

  2. Have a Facebook Business Manager account that is verified by Facebook.

  3. Have a WhatsApp Business API account.

  4. WhatsApp Business API account profile display name should be approved.

  5. Use WhatsApp Business API account for at least a month, do broadcasts regularly and messaging limit should be more than 10k messages in a day.

  6. Have enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) for their WhatsApp Business API account.

  7. Have a strong online presence, including a website and social media accounts.

  8. 5 articles or blogs mentioning the name or talking about your brand.

WhatsApp checks if a brand is "notable" for you to get the Green tick. That means if someone searches for your brand, articles and blogs should show in the top results of the search.


Steps to apply for WhatsApp Green Tick Verification:

Step 1: Go to Spur Settings > WhatsApp and click on "Edit WhatsApp Profile"

Step 2: Click on "Submit Request"

Step 3: Fill the form and hit "Submit"

In the form, make sure:

  1. You fill every field, even if it is optional.

  2. You can use the following text for "Reason for request" field -

    Our brand, [Brand Name] is a well-established brand in the [Industry Name] sector, with a vast and diverse customer base. We've been consistent in ensuring our identity across digital platforms, and this request for WhatsApp verification is an extension of that consistency and a step towards enhancing our customer’s trust and safety.

    We've encountered impersonation issues in the past, and this verification would significantly prevent such problems. We meet all WhatsApp's verification requirements as well.

    This verification is a crucial part of our commitment to creating a secure communication environment for our customers. Thank you for considering our request.
  3. Provide at least 5 articles or blogs that are exclusively about your brand. If you are falling short, we can help you by publishing a blog about your brand on our website here (Contact our Support to take this ahead)

Step 4: Wait for a decision.

Once you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for WhatsApp to decide. The decision-making process can take several weeks, and WhatsApp does not provide any specific information about how they make their decisions. However, if your application is approved, you will receive an email from WhatsApp notifying you of the decision.

If your application is approved, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of being a verified business on WhatsApp. These benefits include:

If your application is denied, you will receive an email from WhatsApp explaining why your application was denied. You may be able to reapply for verification at a later date.
