Meta Business Accounts Settings

Connect your Meta Business account to run click-to-DM/WhatsApp ads and send conversion events back to Meta for better optimization.

Updated this week

What It Does

Connects your Meta Business account to Spur, enabling you to run click-to-DM ads, click-to-WhatsApp ads, and send conversion API events back to Meta for better ad optimization.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Navigate to Settings

Step 2: Connect Your Account

  • Click "Login with Facebook"

  • You'll be redirected to Facebook's permission page

If you're not logged into Facebook, you'll need to log in first.

Step 3: Grant Permissions

Facebook will ask you to grant access to:

  • Facebook Pages: Choose which business pages Spur can manage

  • Instagram Pages: Select Instagram business accounts for automation

  • WhatsApp Business Accounts: Pick which WhatsApp numbers to connect

  • Ad Account Portfolios: Give access to your ad account groups

Pro tip: You can always revoke specific permissions later in Facebook Business Settings if needed

Step 4: Verify Connection

  • Once connected, you'll see your accounts listed there

  • The account ID will be displayed (format for example: 123456789012345)

Why This Connection Matters

Without Meta Business account connection:

  • Click-to-DM ads won't work

  • Click-to-WhatsApp (CTWA) ads will fail

  • Conversion API events can't be sent back to Meta

  • Your ad performance data will be incomplete

This is different from just connecting individual Facebook/Instagram pages - this gives Spur business-level permissions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between this and connecting Instagram/Facebook pages normally? A: Meta Business Accounts gives higher-level permissions needed for ads and conversion tracking. Regular page connections are just for basic messaging.

Q: Can I connect multiple Meta Business accounts? A: Yes, hit "Add new account" if you manage multiple businesses.

Q: I'm getting "Access Denied" errors - what's wrong? A: You might not be an admin on the Meta Business account. Ask the business owner to add you as an admin first.

Q: Do I need this if I'm not running ads? A: No, but you'll miss out on conversion tracking and advanced automation features.

Q: What happens to my existing automations if I disconnect? A: Any click-to-DM or CTWA flows will stop working immediately. Regular Instagram/Facebook automations might continue if those pages are connected separately.
