Let's say you're on the AI Start Plan: you get 2,000 credits per month
One person could send 200 messages in a day
If 10 people did this in a day, your entire month's credits would be gone
How AI Rate Limiting Works
How to reach the settings
Go to the AI Tab, click on ''Configure'' for your AI agent, then on the left, look for 'Settings', scroll down to the very bottom of the page that opens, you'll find the AI Rate Limiting section there.
Default Settings
Message Count Limit: 20 AI responses
Time Period: 5 minutes
What happens: After 20 AI responses in 5 minutes, the conversation gets transferred to a human agent
Customizable Controls
Message Count Limit: Set how many AI responses one person can get before rate limiting kicks in (can be changed from 20 to any number you prefer)
Time Period: Define the window for message counting (default 5 minutes, can be adjusted to hours or even days)
Rate Limit Message: Customize what visitors see when they hit the limit (default: "Please hold on for a bit, we're connecting you with an agent now to assist you with your query further.")
How It Protects You
Example Scenarios:
20 messages per 5 minutes = reasonable conversation pace
50 messages per day = prevents all-day bot usage
You decide what works for your business and credit budget
